Inns en Route Inc. (for Inns of France, Spain, Italy, Mallorca, Portugal, Canada and USA) is a registered and licensed agency and, as such, meets all required standards for insurance and service. It is our policy not to divulge any client information to third parties othr than the hotels at which you are staying. We also use standard encryption for submission of information to our site. Again, we try for 12-24 hour turnaround. On occasion it will be faster, or sometimes slower. We will keep you updated on progress if there is a delay confirming a reservation. Don't make travel plans until you receive a confirmation fromus. On occasion a hotel fills us between the time we receive your enquiry andthe time the hotel processes the reservation. Don't forget that our clients are from around the world and we are all on different timezones, which may delay the process.
When you make your reservation enquiry, include your credit card details (or fax them to us) and we can then make the booking immediately if there is availability. This saves a lot of time.
The cancellation policy for each hotel is different. Each inn's policy is clearly defined on their page on our site. As long as you are cancelling within the cancellation period email us and we can contact the hotel on your behalf to cancel the reservation. You will receive an email from us confirming your cancellation. If you are canelling outside the cancellation period you must telephone the hotel direct (you will have the phone number on your confirmation). It is up to the hotel whether they charge you a cancellation fee or whether you will forfeit your deposit. Inns en Route charges a $15 cancellation fee per room booked on all reservations that have been confirmed and are subsequently cancelled.
We will email you a confirmation with dates, price, type of room, hotel's address, phone number and map details. You won't need anything else. Just print the confirmation and map and you are ready to go.
Some hotels require a deposit only in high season, other always require a deposit, others take no deposit. All these details can be seen on the hotel's page on our site. Note that often a deposit is non-refundable in case of cancellation. Please read this information carefully. The hotel may require you to fax an approval form to them in order to take a deposit - we will always let you know if this is the cas.
No, but most do. If there is no dining room or restaurant this is always indicated on the hotel's page on our site, plus information on the proximity of restaurants in the area.
The usual star ratings for a hotel relate to amenities and service, not charm. For example, a five star hotel may have a swimming pool, restaurant, convention centre, bar, parking, room service - and zero charm. We guarantee that our small inns will have charm, warmth, a hospitable host, personal service, great decor, a good bathroom and a comfortable bed. Do ask us if you have any questions.
Usually yes, but some hotels do not take Diners or American Express.
Firstly, ours is a paperless service: everything you should need is on our website. We give full information, description, photographs, map, prices, location. The second reason is that our inns, for the most part, are very small and the owners need to know who is coming to stay and when. They do not want people just dropping in hoping to stay the night - they want advance notice of the arrival of guests. The inns on our sites have been especially selected by us and this is a fluid situation. If we discover a new wonderful inn, we can include it immediately on our site or, conversely, if we get poor feedback on an inn, we can remove it from our site until it meets our standards again.
